The short version: your baby’s video and audio travel directly between your own devices over your local network. They are never sent to, or stored on, any server. The app has no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. The one thing that leaves your device is a purchase receipt, and only if you buy a subscription.
Who we are
Baby Cam: Private Baby Monitor (“the app”) is developed and published by DedalDev Doo (“we”, “us”). You can reach us any time at info@dedaldev.com. Your use of the app is also governed by our Terms of Use.
How the app works, and why that matters for privacy
The app turns two of your devices into a baby monitor. One device acts as the camera, the other as the parent unit. They connect to each other peer to peer over your local WiFi network, using an encrypted WebRTC connection established directly between the two devices.
This design means:
- The video and audio stream never leaves your home network. It goes from one of your devices to the other, and nowhere else.
- We operate no video servers and no cloud storage. We could not view, store, or hand over your footage even if asked, because it never reaches us.
- The monitor works without an internet connection. A working WiFi router is enough.
- Nothing is recorded unless you tap to capture a photo or video, and those are saved only to your own device (see below).
What data we collect
Data the app itself collects: none
- No account or registration. The app has no sign-up, no login, and no user profiles.
- No personal data. The app does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or contacts.
- No advertising or tracking. The app contains no ad networks, no analytics SDK, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Anonymous crash and usage data (via the platform stores)
Like most mobile apps, the app may receive anonymous crash reports and aggregated usage statistics through the standard mechanisms of the platform it runs on: Apple’s App Store analytics and crash reporting on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play’s equivalent on Android. This data is anonymized by the platform, is only shared with us if you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in your device settings, and never includes any video, audio, or personal information. We use it solely to find and fix bugs.
If you buy a Pro subscription
The core monitor is free. If you choose to buy the optional Pro subscription, the purchase itself is handled by Apple or by Google, and we never see your payment details. To know whether your subscription is active, and to restore it when you reinstall the app or move to a new phone, we use RevenueCat, a subscription management service.
For that purpose, and only if you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives:
- a random anonymous identifier generated on your device, which is not your name, your email, or your Apple or Google ID;
- the purchase receipt issued by the store, including which product you bought and when it renews or expires;
- basic device and platform information, and your IP address, which RevenueCat uses to determine your country.
This data is not linked to your identity, is never combined with anything else about you, and is used only to grant or restore the features you paid for. It contains no video, no audio, and nothing about your baby. RevenueCat’s handling of it is governed by their privacy policy. If you never buy a subscription, none of this applies to you.
Photos and videos you capture
If you use the capture feature, the resulting photos and video clips are saved directly to the photo library of your own device. They are not uploaded anywhere by the app. You control them like any other item in your photo library, including deleting them at any time.
Device permissions and why we ask for them
The app requests only the permissions it needs to function as a baby monitor:

You can grant or revoke any of these at any time in your device settings. The app will keep working with reduced functionality where possible.
Data sharing and third parties
We never sell or rent user data, and we have never shared any with an advertiser or a data broker. There are exactly three places data can flow to a third party, all described above:
- the platform stores, for anonymous crash and aggregated usage reporting, governed by Apple’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy;
- Apple or Google, if you make a purchase, because they process the payment;
- RevenueCat, if you make a purchase, to validate and restore your subscription, governed by their privacy policy.
No video, no audio, and no still image ever reaches any of them, or us. That is a property of how the app is built, not a promise we have to keep by hand.
Data retention and deletion
We operate no server that stores your data. Everything the app produces lives on your devices: the live stream exists only for the moment it is displayed, and captured photos or videos stay in your photo library until you delete them. Deleting the app removes all of its local data.
If you bought a subscription, the anonymous purchase record held by RevenueCat is the only trace of you outside your device. Write to info@dedaldev.com and we will delete it on request, though doing so also erases our ability to restore your subscription.
Children’s privacy
The app is designed for use by parents and caregivers, not by children. It points a camera at a child, which is exactly why we built it so the footage never leaves your home. We do not knowingly collect any data from or about children; by design, we do not collect data about anyone.
Security
The peer-to-peer connection between your devices is established with WebRTC, which encrypts media streams in transit by default. Because the stream stays on your local network, the security of your home WiFi (a WPA2/WPA3 password) is your first line of defense, as it is for every device in your home.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and change the effective date at the top before the change ships. Given the app’s architecture, we intend for the core promise, that video never leaves your home network, to remain unchanged.
